BOARD MEMBERS

OUR BOARD MEMBERS

Houndsmen for Heroes is a grass roots organization comprised of strictly volunteers. These houndsmen are dedicated to the mission of provided world class, hound hunting adventures to our Heroes.

Heath Sewell

Board President

Our Board President, Heath Sewell began hound hunting when a friend asked him to take him out. While he had dogs, he was a quadriplegic, and needed someone to drive him around and follow the dogs through the woods. Since then, for the past 21 years hound hunting has become an integral family tradition in the Sewell household, with each of his sons enjoying the sport with their dad every season. Heath has had the opportunity to successfully hunt our Heroes since 2016, and loves every minute of it. He is the proud father of 4 children- Payton, Wyatt, Rueben & Cord and has been happily married to his wife-  also our board administrator, since 2003. He also owns and operates a successful big game taxidermy business in Eastern Oregon since 2002.

Corey Erickson

Board Member

Corey grew up in the small town of Saco, in Northeastern Montana. Hunting and fishing was a year round event and an integral part of his upbringing. When he turned 18 and was working out of Loma, Montana, he could hear hounds at night and asked a fellow coworker about hound hunting with him. He soon had his first dog and by the early 90s he had built his own pack and was hooked for life. He ran his own taxidermy business starting in the mid 2000s before moving with his family to Oregon for his wife’s work, where he returned to the trade of plumbing, which he had done for 20 plus years. While at a basketball game for his son, he overheard a conversation about running hounds, he spun around to meet our board president Heath Sewell! since meeting, Corey has been an asset to the hunts for Houndsmen for Heroes and became a board member in 2018. He is the field supervisor and lead plumber for Servco of Lebanon, proud father of 3 children-Ronnie, Walker and Seylee and married to his wonderful wife Charisse. He believes in HH whole heartily. With both grandparents fighting in World War 2, he knows the importance of supporting the veteran community.

Jason Duby

Board Member

As previous owner / operator of Plum Tree Hound Supply and current Director of Customer Relations at Double U Hunting Supply, Jason is no stranger to hounds or the Houndsmen that dedicate their lives to their dogs and the traditions of hound hunting.

Jason lives in Southern Oregon with his wife Dani and their three boys Colin and Connor and Casey. While he spends most of his free time pleasure hunting his hounds, he also enjoys salmon and steelhead fishing the rogue River during the off season. If there is an open season, chances are he’s hunting or fishing. From varmints to big game, he loves it all the same.

Jason also loves traveling the country and meeting fellow sportsmen.

Whether he’s traveling to a fundraising banquet or a hunt somewhere across the US, he loves being around other Houndsmen and fighting for the preservation of our sport. Jason has sat on the board of directors for several Pro hound groups and nonprofit organizations. He believes if we’re going to preserve our sport and traditions, we have to roll up our sleeves and get to work, together!

Steve Vick

Board Member

Steve started his passion for hunting at an early age- joining his parents on their hunting excursions as just a whipper-snapper. As a teenager, he himself started rifle hunting, often times going out on his own in pursuit of deer. Years later, he would take up archery hunting, and embark on elk and antelope hunts. In the early 2000’s, Steve got his feet wet (literally in the deep, deep snow) in the world of hound hunting- accompanying friends of his on bobcat chases. After joining the Fern Ridge Hound Club, he was able to assemble his own small pack of Treeing Walker Hounds. He has enjoyed being involved with several hunts with veterans. Our service men and women hold a special place in Steve’s heart. His father is a veteran of the Vietnam war and Steve himself was enlisted in the Army National Guard before being sidelined in a major training injury. During the weekdays, Steve is a field technician for Sitech- installing GPS and other navigational systems on agriculture equipment. He enjoys camping, fishing and hunting with his whole family, which includes his wife, Tami, and their kiddos, Lincoln, Ryan, Daisy, Waylon and Jimmy. They live in Scio, OR with their dogs, horses and too many goats.

Andrew Beggs

Board Member

Andrew was born and raised as a third generation hound hunter– while other kids played sports, he was out hunting. After graduating high school in 2011 he worked for a sport fishing lodge in Alaska, filled tags on Moose and Sitka Blacktail hunts, and then even fished his way down to Mexico… but his passion for hound hunting kept him rooted back home.

Andrew lives in Western Oregon with his wife and two young kids, Clyde and Mesa, who are quickly growing into little hound hunting fanatics themselves. When he’s not working or continuing his education as a Millwright and Electrician, you can bet he’s out in the woods with his family and dogs. He looks forward to playing a role in each vet hunt, as his way to give something back to our nation’s  service members – and share his passion for something that is so much more than a sport.

LaurelLynne Sewell

Board Administrator

After marrying her Husband and Board President, Heath Sewell in 2003, LaurelLynne was introduced to the hound hunting community. As their family grew and their kids became involved in the hunt, she helped reorganize the local hound hunting club by taking on the role of president. After getting the opportunity to help facilitate the Fern Ridge Hero events, she felt compelled to do more and helped created the 501(c)(3) for Houndsmen for Heroes. She left the hound club days behind to concentrate her efforts on helping manage our events, finances and eventual growth. As a culinary school graduate, she loves to cook-and feeds the crew for every Hero event. LaurelLynne is also an avid half marathon runner for Team Beef of the Oregon Cattlewomen’s Association, women’s ministry team leader and dedicates her life to their 4 children-Payton, Wyatt, Rueben and Cord. She also helps Heath run and manage their taxidermy business in Eastern Oregon.
